Hi everyone I have been having a podcasting break over the xmas and new year so have got behind a bit. Dont worry I will get another one out as quickly as possable I have one or two great bands that have given me the ok and I cant wait to include them.

Hi all,
well its taken a while but I have just about got the podcast back online as I want it. As you all know I first of all changed from one feed (where the actual file is hosted) to podshow which put adverts at the begining and the end. This I decided was not for me.
So now I have a new feed as well as a new look blog page, I am putting up as many links to the new podcast feed on this page as I can but if you click on subscribe to kevin takes on the world that will take you to a page which has plenty of options. The itunes link will be posted in the next few days as soon as apple have given the feed the ok.
I apologise again for all this messing about and I'm afraid that all of you who had subscribed will have to resubscribe to the new feed as I couldn't manage to put in a redirection tag into the code ( I told you I was crap at code ).

Well as you have read below there is a new feed (well the original one actually).
If anyone has any trouble downloading or dosn't know what to do then feel free to drop me an email at ihatekeithchegwin@hotmail.com and I will sort you out.
Basically this is what needs doing :
*download a podcatcher such as doppler, ipodder, podcast pickle or use itunes.
*copy and paste the RSS feed address (which I will provide a link to) into the required box
and hey presto Kevin takes on the world will be downloaded straight onto your computer whenever I put one out.
Don't forget folks that the 1 year anniversary is coming up so if anyone wants any of the tunes I have played over the last year then email or leave a comment and I will see what I can I do.

Hi everyone out there in the podosphere, I would firstly like to apologise for messing you all around so much. I am at the moment in the process of changing my feed back from podshow back to the Blast podcast feed. These companies are the people that host the feed in cyberspace for you to download. The podshow company was quite promising but a number of things have happened that have put me off the company, these range from them recieving $15 million but a few days later all their servers going down, this even though they are heavily sponsered by and in partnership with Godaddy (an internet domaine host and their server).This resulted in the thousand or so podcasts that are on podshow to not have any downloads for that amount of time.
I have also heard a number of stories of varoius other podcasters that have signed up to podshow and not recieved any money as well as not being treated particularly fairly.
Anyway enough said, so I am in the process of coming back from the dark side and reposting all my banners with new address changes and diverting all my feeds, sorry again for all the disruption.
One of the upshots of this is that I have posted podcast 18 on the blast podcast feed as it was never uploaded onto this feed so enjoy this if you never got round to checking out the podshow feed and 19 will be released in a couple of days when I have finished moving everything over.

Podcast 16, a new era?

Hi everyone, well first of all, back with a new selection of kick ass tunes.
Secondly as you will notice if you havnt already I have signed up to a server called Podshow+,this is a new company for listeners and makers of podcasts and although is still going through a few "birthing pains" I believe will become a great resource for all.
You will notice an advert at the beginning and at the end but apart from that the show should be the same. The other good bit for listeners is that the whole ideaoligy is a social ntwork working the same way that myspace does. So on my new podshow page which is

Hi everyone, I would like to apologise for the mistake in podcast 14 where on the second song the volume drops dramatically. This has now been fixed so if you download it now the levels are all correct. I would especially like to apologise to the Straight 8s whose song it was (Mean go getter), all I can say is that I will definatley be playing more of your great tunes in the future but at the correct levels (or maybe louder).

I hope that I have still got the occasional visitor or person subscribed to the podcast, I have been away so long the I wouldn't be suprised if everyone had given up on me but I am back now finally.
Since I last blogged / podcasted I have been run off my feet working (I know its a bit of a lame excuse but when you are a gardener you have to make good use of the good weather). Also I have been to America to go to my mates wedding, if you click on my photos you will have already seen him and his now wife I think at Yosemite (is that spelt right).
well I had a fantastic time and as I know a large proportion of my listeners are from the US I can say you live in a fantastic country. I was in San Diego as I mentioned in podcast 13 I think, and so managed to dip a toe in the Pacific Ocean as well as eat loads of Mexican food and catch a great band.
Johns wedding was a very touching and personal ceremony with a film theme (both of them big film buffs). Each table was named after a film and relevant to the people sat there eg. The usual suspects and so on, we were the Army of Darkness.
It was held on the roof of a lovely hotel and the ceremony included songs by Tom Waits sung by friends and at the end dancing to Zimbabwian music.

I am so excited at the recent activity on the old blog, there are so many people adding their worthwhile comments and I feel that an understanding between humankind can only be improved by this activity.
I look foward to more in depth debating on such a wide range of subjects, such as St. Georges flags on cars ( a fashion here in England for World Cup fever) even if the car is a french or german and the flag is made in china.
I will soon be flying to San Diego for a friends wedding, whilst there I will catch the England and Trinidad and Tobago match at a "genuine" English " pub.
What do people think of these country theme pubs, I used o go to one in Istanbul called The James Joyce, I could never make my mind up. One day I would despise it thinking that it was expensive tat, but other times there was nothing I wanted more than to have a few jars in a familiar atmosphere where it was possable to here other English voices.
As I'm talking about the world cup, I wonder what people are thinking about who may win, suprise teams etc, I'm watching the Poland v Ecuador game at the moment -could Ecuador be the the suprise team? I hear some money is going on Ivory Coast but this is probably because of the Chelsea contingent in the team.
Anyway whoever you support or should that be whomever I wish them luck.....unless they are playing England.

Well its one of those lovely sunny clear winter days here, we have a glorious blue sky and the views are clear. The podcast player was getting on my nerves (and I'm sure everyone elses) so I've turned it off, now you have to click onto the player to hear it.
As always you can also get it on itunes or other aggregators, by copying the rss feed (see the link on the side bar on the right)address into the required window.
Usually its a case of clicking 'add podcast' then copy and paste, easy.
By the way all of you on windows (like me) can simply download itunes from the apple site so long as you have reletively recent operating system, 2000 or xp I think.
Other good podcasts and blogs that you may want to check are Adam Curry on the Daily Source code, Roger Smalls, The Rock n Roll Geek Show and many BBC produced programms. I will give you all more details of podcasting and other great podcasts on my own next podcast - keep an eye out!

Hi everyone, my link to podcast 7 that I had wiped out and forgoten to replace has finally been replaced. So if you didn't get it before, then go get it now. That is unless you are a subscribed listener (see previous post) and have had it delivered automatically to your recieved podcasts file in itunes (you can download it for free even if you've got a pc) or other aggregator. Ive started working on the next podcast, I'm trying to make it a worthwhile listen even if they are irregular and mixed in content ie one week music then the next music with chat or interview. This is mainly because I do this as a hobby and don't want to feel that I have to produce a show regularly every week to satisfy tens of thousands of regular subscribers (some chance!). There has been a few podcasts that have bitten the dust for this reason- making a pod for their own back as it were..
Again if there is a topic that any of you think should be looked into by the take on the world podcast then drop a line as I would love to hear. Yes I managed to finely tune the settings in such a way that I've wiped out the last post that I put up. Well I hope that you caught it because I cant really remember, apart from that it was mainly giving details of all the music in podcast 7 and where you could find it (web addresses etc).
This was a pity as it took ages to get all the addresses, however if you want them they are all on the podsafe music network on www.podshow.com so if you did like any of the bands you know where you can go, alternatively drop me a line at ihatekeithchegwin@hotmail.com and I will get the address for you, or drop me a line anyway I'm always open to chat about whats going on in the world or ideas for upcoming podcasts.
Speaking of podcasts you will have noticed that one of the new additions to the site is a link on the right in the sidebar that says click me for RSS feed. This when clicked, will take you to a page of code, you may wonder what this is for, well all will be revealed.
If you copy the address of this page (the URL), then go to what is called a podcast aggregator such as ipodder (http://www.ipodder.org/directory/4/ipodderSoftware), podcast alley (http://www.podcastalley.com/forum/links.php?id=1),doppler (http://www.dopplerradio.net/?page_id=64) and of course the famous itunes. If nessecary you may have to download the actual programme (its small) when thats done all you do is click on the add feed and you should get a window asking for the address of the podcast you then paste in the address of the RSS feed that you previously copied from the link and bobs your uncle. Now whenever you want to check out the latest Kevin and Fatma you go to your aggregator and check if its downloaded the latest show, which if you've set the settings correctly it should automatically.
Also you will be able to transfer it to your mp3 player and listen to it as you wander round the supermarket.
If you are lucky enough to have itunes you could also just search for us in the search podcast window and you will get a rundown of all our shows and a little picture.

Well, I'm amazed, it has only been a matter of hours since I posted the latest podcast and we have had quite a few downloads already, we will be challenging Ricky Gervaise as the worlds most popular podcast soon (in my dreams). By the way if any of you havn't caught that one yet you should, it is extreemly funny and deserving of the top spot.
Well I dare say you have all been wondering what the answers are to the two questions that I posed earlier, well 'shed' got one which was the last prime minister not to have a wife..Margret Thatcher. The other one though I have had no comments on. This was, Sunderland did it in 79, Villa did it in 81 but who did it in 80 and what is it? well this one seemed to stump everyone, either that or nobody could be bothered to reply so I'll tell you ..the answer is Trever Brooking it is the names of the people who scored the winning goal in the FA cup final.

Hi everyone,
I realise that it has been a while but I think that when you listen to number six you will forgive the wait. This podcast is pure gold if I say so myself, we have some stunning tunes gleaned from the podsafe music network by the likes of Joe Strummer and others, we have an interesting and often disturbing interview with a member of a secret organization (can't tell you any more without having to kill you) but the star of the whole procedings is a brand new digital mic so we are all crystal clear and not a trace of humm or hiss.

A Letter From England

Well new year and new beginnings have come to us all, I have had a nice break with no feeling of guilt because there was also snow on the ground (although I still could have done some paperwork). So I will feel refreshed when I hit the gardens this coming week. I am hoping to go for another job also that I've heard about, it is a part-time temp postman but doing the evening collections from the boxes and taking them to Darlington. This would be superb if I got it, as it would allow me to work in the gardens and set up the new business during the day till 3.00ish. then I would be off in my little van whizzing up and down dale picking up letters then dropping them off in Darlo about 6.30ish. At which point I drive back to Barney listening to the comedy on radio 4 at 6.30 to finish work at 7.00.
Another new beginning that some of you may have noticed is a new addition to our cyberblog rantings, yes we've gone totally international. Fatma has started a Turkish podcast which will be downloadable from her own blog which is linked to this one. It will be along the lines of Alistair Cook but will be titled Letter from England, dont worry if you dont speak Turkish she has posted some photos and will include some music in the podcast.
I would by the way be interested in any new year resolutions that you all may have made and whether they are still being adhered to!

Hi everyone, I was recently looking at the guest map and noticed that we had a friend in India called Bob, great news that we are reaching out to the far extremities of the planet. If you are reading this Bob I'd like to say thank you and I look foward to you sending a photo of yourself in India perhaps with a copy of the Goa Gazzette so that I can put it up on the blog. While I'm on the subject if anyone wants to do this then we could maybe set up a listener photo album . Send us your comments / photos.
On a similar subject I was looking at the stats for the podcast downloads today and now I can get details of where the downloads have been downloaded to in the form of a pie chart. I was amazed to find that the majority of our listeners are septics, closely followed by us brits with a suprisingly large contingent from China coming third then Puerto Rico, Canada and Netherlands bringing up the rear.

It will star my darling wife, I think she has now been bitten by the podcast bug and she will turn into a mic hog. Not a bad thing I can hear you all say.

I rather flippantly commented on the chemical weapons that have been used in Iraq on the last podcast, this however is not a matter to be taken so lightly. I remember a couple of weeks ago when the news about it was on the radio there was a quote by a supposed unbiased journalist saying that he was sure that no civilians were targeted and the white phosphorus was fired at an area of woodland where insurgents were taking refuge. This I found dubious at the time, I now feel sickened at the massive extent of the lies that we are told. I have provided a link (above) to a blog that pulls no punches and does contain material that is unpleasant to say the least, but it says what I want to say with authority and without the editorial influence of any ministry.

Amazingly due to a massive demand for our podcast we have been threatened with suspension from our podcast feed hosting service. This has spurred me onto find a service with an unlimited bandwidth (therefore allowing unlimited downloads)(at least thats what I think it means ).This may mean that things change a bit but all details will be posted on the blog.
Meanwhile if the podcast stops working then it means that we have been suspended. boo

The other day this pheasant appeared in our back yard it was there when I got up for breakfast at 8 till around 3 I will update you all if I see it again, it was a great sight to start the day on.
The main reason for this blog is as a vehicle for a podcast however so if you all notice odd messages appearing and links not working then it is me desperatley trying to work out the whys and wherefors.
In the meantime what do call a man with no shins .....Tony
